Pet Wellness Exams
Kierland Animal Clinic offers wellness exams for pet owners of Scottsdale, AZ and surrounding communities. Regular wellness exams are important to the health of your pets. It is recommended at least one annual exam for pets 1-5 years of age and two annual exams for pets over 6 years of age.
During these visits, we can update any necessary vaccines and perform lab work such as fecals, heartworm testing, medical screen and safety monitoring, or other tests that may be indicated. We will answer any questions or concerns you may have about your pet health and daily care. We will inform you of any abnormalities or concerns that arise during our physical exam.
Annual exams help us to detect problems or the potential for problems and help keep your pets as healthy as possible for as long as possible. We are here to help you care for your pet in the best possible way.

Pet Drop Off Appointments
We offer drop-off appointments for wellness and sick patient exams. This allows us to care for your pet during the day to run any diagnostics, such as bloodwork or radiographs, and perform necessary treatments that otherwise cannot be done during a regularly scheduled time slot. They also allow us to work with patients when all of our appointment slots are booked.

Pet Dentistry
Dental care is more than just getting rid of bad breath or unsightly tartar. Dental disease is a source of chronic pain and possibly infections. Left untreated these infections can cause heart valve disease or kidney disease.
Start your pet’s dental care early in life so as to maintain the health of teeth and gums as long as possible. Routine dental care can significantly decrease the amount of extractions needed throughout your pet’s lifetime.

Pet General Surgery
We do more than spays and neuters. We also do surgeries such as mass or tumor removals, wound repairs, and even orthopedic procedures.
We perform preoperative blood work to ensure there are no underlying issues that could interfere with the safety of your pet under anesthesia.
We place intravenous catheters that allow us to administer injectable anesthesia and pain medications that allow for immediate access to the vein in case of an emergency.
Your pet is monitored in several ways while under anesthesia. We monitor heart rate, respiratory rate, blood oxygenation, spO2, and temperature. We use circulating warm water blankets and BAER huggers to keep them warm.
We provide pain management at the time of surgery and pain medications to go home.
We strongly recommend the use of inflatable or plastic e-collars to prevent your pet from licking or chewing at their incision site(s) and potentially causing complications post-operatively.

Pet Spay And Neuter
We recommend spaying / neutering your dog or cat at about 4-6 months of age.
Spaying eliminates those pesky heat cycles and also provides many health benefits such as removing the risk of a pyometra (an infected uterus that is life-threatening), removing the chance of unwanted pregnancy, and greatly reducing the risk of mammary cancer later in life.
Neutering helps prevent unwanted pregnancies as well. Non-neutered males have higher incidences of inappropriate urination due to marking and aggression. Neutering also lessens the risk of perineal hernias and perineal adenomas and adenocarcinomas.
Here at Kierland Animal Clinic, we would be pleased to help you spay or neuter your pet. Call us to schedule your pet’s surgery today at (480) 948-1420.

It’s important to consult with us about the unique risks of living in our region. We will be happy to discuss the benefits of protecting your pet with vaccinations, as well as, provide you with information on the required vaccinations for your pet and recommended vaccines based on your pet’s lifestyle needs.
It is our goal to provide the highest level of care for your pet, and proper vaccination is an integral part of your pet’s overall health.
If you are traveling with your pet, you may be required to have a Health Certificate. Each state has different rules and regulations, so be sure to consult with us in advance of your travel.
If you are traveling to another country, we recommend using a pet-travel specialist as every country has different requirements and timelines. They can help you to get through the confusing and time extensive process of pet travel.
Please contact us today if you have any questions or concerns about your pet’s vaccination.
