We recommend spaying / neutering your dog or cat at about 4-6 months of age.
Spaying eliminates those pesky heat cycles and also provides many healthy benefits such as removing the risk of a pyometra (an infected uterus that is life-threatening), removing the chance of an unwanted pregnancy, and it greatly reduces the risk of mammary cancer later in life.

Neutering helps prevent unwanted pregnancies as well. Non-neutered males have higher incidences of inappropriate urination due to marking and aggression. Neutering also lessens the risk of perineal hernias and perineal adenomas and adenocarcinomas.
